About the Role

We are looking for highly experienced FIFO Head Chefs to work closely with the Village & Catering Managers to deliver exceptional food to our Villages. The primary focus of the role is to ensure a smooth and profitable kitchen operation that delivers outstanding guest experience.

We have roles available within Bowen Basin (Nebo, Coppabella, and Moranbah). These can be a DIDO if you live locally or FIFO role departing from Brisbane on 14:7 rosters. We also have a free staff bus that departs from Mackay.

Experience

  • 5+ years’ cumulative chef experience, preferably working in a large hotel or remote village environment (FIFO or DIDO) with significant experiences supervising and managing a team of chefs 

  • Experience with ordering, storing, preparing and delivering food service 

  • Strong experience in a bulk/batch cooking environment

  • Ordering, profit and wastage reporting 

  • Client relationship management and support 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery or Trade certificate essential.

  • Applied knowledge of HACCP principles in a bulk cooking environment 

  • Ability to create service schedules on a daily, weekly and monthly basis 

  • Applied knowledge of workplace safety systems and compliance requirements 

  • Intermediate skills with regards to Microsoft Office applications 

  • Budgetary and analytical skills 

  • Knowledge of relevant kitchen chemicals, including their application and storage

  • Valid drivers’ licence (Class C) is preferred
