Intralox is looking for a Field Technician to execute optimization services for material handling equipment. This role includes performing field installations, audits, troubleshooting, and technical support on a variety of conveyor systems, primarily within the material handling industry. Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work directly with customers at their sites. Because this role requires frequent travel, candidates may be located anywhere in the United States with reasonable access to an airport.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and perform mechanical and electrical assembly, installation, and commissioning, of equipment.
  • Provide warranty support by diagnosing equipment failures, performing repairs, and replacing critical components as needed.
  • Provide technical feedback to Engineering and R&D teams to support continuous improvements in equipment performance, reliability, and serviceability.
  • Train customers on the proper operation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot installation challenges and develop effective solutions in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect conveyor systems and related equipment to collect detailed technical information and accurately document findings.
  • Communicate conveyor and belting recommendations both verbally and through clear, professional written reports.
  • Manage and execute business travel efficiently on short notice, including travel during evenings and weekends when required.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure the proper care, maintenance, and accountability of assigned tools.
  • Maintain a professional work environment, including the appearance, cleanliness, and organization of equipment, tools, and work areas.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement through self evaluation, professional development, and a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience as a mechanical or electrical technician
  • Strong mechanical background, ideally with experience in processing or conveying equipment. 
  • Ability to travel extensively (70%) both domestically and internationally and work weekends, holidays as needed.
  • Reasonable access to regional airport.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Ability to work within a team environment including subcontractors.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to set priorities, utilize and coordinate resources, and manage visits from start to finish with little supervision.  
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills 
  • Computer proficiency, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft products
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturer’s drawings and manuals to “self-teach” new technology.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills
  • Positive, confident outlook with an entrepreneurial, problem-solving personality
  • Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand, kneel and squat on a repetitive basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical degree (electrical/mechanical/automation)
  • Experience with material handling equipment
  • Strong electro-mechanical skills (electrical panels, motors, drives and networks), experience with industrial control systems.
  • Ability to MIG weld
