Job Description

IMEG is hiring a Field Technician in Rock Island, IL, to perform routine field tasks as directed by the Construction Manager. In this first-level trainee role, your work will be checked by others in process and upon completion, and you may be assigned to a construction project to support field measurements, documentation, and plan interpretation.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Perform basic field inspection, testing, and documentation

  • Support on-site or laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and hot mix asphalt

  • Serve as a construction observer as assigned, making field measurements and documentation entries

  • Read and interpret plans as needed to support field activities

  • Attend training to achieve various certifications

  • Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly

  • Maintain equipment and vehicles

  • Observe safety and security procedures while working in the field

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred

  • Prior experience in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred


Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds  

  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull  

  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
