Your Opportunity

As a recognized leader in pavement engineering and infrastructure/asset management consulting, our Infrastructure Management & Pavement Engineering (IMPE) team is looking for a Field Technician beginning in October 2026. This is a temporary role with an expected duration of 3-4 weeks. This temporary role may turn into a full time role for the correct candidate.

This position will be collecting sidewalk and pedestrian ramp condition data using automated light weight tools and an iPhone and/or an iPad. Onsite training will be provided during the first day of data collection.

The position requires an individual who places safety on the job and the quality of the job as the top priorities. The expectations are that the job is done safely and accurately.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performing pedestrian sidewalk and ramp condition assessments using digital tools and an iPhone and/or iPad to document the observed conditions of the ramp and sidewalk.
  • Uploading collected data from the iPhone/iPad using an internet connection at the end of each working day.
  • Organizing work in both the field and keeping detailed project records.
  • Completing safety forms as needed.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Able to work/walk extensively in the field (urban, rural, or remote locations) – on roadways, exposed to weather elements such as heat, rain, and wind. Note that we try to time our projects so that they are during good weather conditions.
  • Attention to detail is required and is a key to collecting accurate data.
  • Familiarity with using an iPhone and iPads.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Works independently without direct supervision and well with others.
  • Capability to look at a problem, devise ways to resolve it, and communicate observations to team members.
  • Able to organize, prioritize, set and adjust priorities and schedules independently.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record .
  • Proficiency with the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office products.

Education and Experience

  • No formal education is required; however, field experience and/or education in a mechanical and/or a technical field are an asset.
  • Sound mechanical and/or technical background is an asset
  • We will provide all required training; initiative is the key to progressing.
