Field Mechanic

Typical Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00PM (Overtime Eligible)

Pay Range: Dependent on Experience and discretionary quarterly branch performance bonus

🔧 What We're Looking For

This is an experienced Technician III-level position. Candidates should be able to independently diagnose and repair a wide range of construction and rental equipment.

Required:

• 3+ years of professional diesel mechanic experience
• Construction equipment, heavy equipment, or equipment rental experience required
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic experience with:
• Diesel engines
• Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems
• Electrical systems
• Hydraulic systems
• Pneumatic systems
• Drivetrains
• Experience performing both major and minor repairs
• Ability to independently diagnose equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair
• Experience inspecting, servicing, testing, and returning equipment to manufacturer specifications
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance, including fluid changes, lubrication, and inspections
• Experience completing accurate service and repair documentation
• Basic computer skills for service work orders, parts ordering, and maintenance records
• Ability to perform basic MIG and SMAW welding repairs
• Must have the necessary professional mechanic tools for the position, typically valued at $10,000+

🚜 What You'll Do

As a Technician III, you'll play a critical role in keeping Sunstate's rental fleet operating safely and reliably.

You'll:

• Diagnose complex equipment failures
• Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel repairs
• Troubleshoot Tier 4 and aftertreatment systems
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections
• Test equipment after repairs to verify proper operation
• Complete service documentation and warranty records
• Assist with field service and customer equipment needs
• Work independently while supporting the branch team
• Help keep equipment safe, reliable, and ready for our customers
