Job Description

Field Service Engineer – Italy

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, site acceptance testing, maintenance, and repair of PowerStation, Transmission, Substation, and Transformer monitoring systems. The role ensures high-quality service delivery, supports customer operations, and contributes to business growth through strong technical expertise and customer engagement. This position requires extensive travel across Europe, with occasional assignments globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute installation, commissioning, site acceptance testing (SAT), maintenance, and repair activities on assigned equipment
  • Plan and coordinate field service activities in collaboration with OEM and utility customers
  • Deliver on-site customer training and technical support
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal system downtime
  • Maintain accurate service reports and documentation in compliance with company standards
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to support service growth
  • Identify and communicate commercial opportunities to Sales teams
  • Provide customer feedback to Engineering, Quality, and Commercial functions
  • Manage local spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Actively develop technical knowledge and stay current with product and industry advancements

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achieve a minimum of 70% billable utilization (measured monthly)
  • Contribute to regional Field Service revenue growth
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction based on formal feedback
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement in product knowledge and technical capability

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong electromechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability
  • Experience within the utilities, power, or electrical engineering industry
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • UK BESC, VCA VOL and/or BA4/BA5 certifications (e.g., Vinçotte, ELIA, ENGIE) H&S certifications
  • GWO offshore certification – advantageous

Languages:

  • Italian, English, Portuguese

Working Conditions

  • Location: Home-based, with proximity to Rho (Milan), Italy preferred
  • Travel: Up to 75% travel within Europe and occasional global travel
  • Reporting Line: Field Service Manager – Europe
