Are you ready to shape the safety and sustainability of Alberta’s highways? Join our team as a Field Support Technologist (FST) and apply your technical and problem-solving skills to help ensure the safety, reliability, and long-term preservation of vital transportation infrastructure. In this impactful role, you’ll help maintain safe travel conditions for thousands of road users every day—from commuters to commercial carriers.
As a Field Support Technologist, you’ll serve as a crucial link between the technical systems, maintenance contractors, and field inspections that sustain Alberta’s provincial highway network. You’ll oversee the integrity of the Highway Maintenance Contract, contribute to data collection and infrastructure planning, and champion public safety in both routine and emergency conditions. Your attention to detail, collaborative mindset, and ability to adapt in the field will ensure the highway system continues to serve Albertans efficiently and safely—today and into the future.
Your key responsibilities include:
This position requires regular travel throughout Alberta—typically between 25-50% of the work schedule. It offers a varied work environment that includes both field and office-based activities, ideal for individuals who enjoy a flexible and hands-on approach to their work.

Required A related two-year diploma (e.g., Civil Engineering Technology PLUS four (4) years of related experience in highway maintenance or equivalent as described.
Equivalency Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
