About the role
Our Field Supervisors coordinate and supervise the delivery of field operations for NPWS. Working closely with the Team Leader Field Operations, this role is critical to supervising up to ten staff in the Central Coast Area and you’ll love working in some of our National Parks within this region including Bouddi National Park (NP), Brisbane Water NP and Popran NP You’ll be relied upon to play a critical role developing and implementing priority works and maintenance programs where no two days are the same. This will include contributing to the planning, prioritisation and scheduling of works including undertaking administrative and record keeping duties. This is a leadership role combined with hands-on responsibilities assisting with pest and fire management, weed control, road maintenance, staff and stakeholder engagement, the construction and maintenance of infrastructure, protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage sites and the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment. This role involves working on a rotating roster and you will be required to work on weekends and public holidays.

About You
Your strong communication and leadership skills will set you up for success managing and leading a dynamic team and juggling multiple projects at once. Strong organisational skills and adaptability will be a key skillset, coupled with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders to ensure the delivery of programs and priority projects. You’ll need to be skilled at operating and maintaining plant and equipment including hand tools, powered tools, spray units, water pumps, chainsaws, all-terrain vehicles, four-wheel drives and heavy plant in accordance with appropriate licences, Workcover Standards, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Safety Analyses and manufacturers guidelines to ensure relevant work safety requirements are met. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team but be able to work alone or with minimal supervision. Your enthusiasm will enable you to thrive and succeed in this diverse role. Ideally, you’ll also be comfortable using various office-based technologies to maximise efficiencies and effectiveness.
Essential Role Requirements
This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW’s most precious natural places.
Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment) which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (i.e. moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters) within the 12-month probationary period, if relevant.
The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties. Notes:
