Childhood Services (ECS) through Grade 12. Share your talent, your leadership and your success as you shape the future of education in Alberta. The Ministry provides funding to over 300 provincial school authorities for ECS to Grade 12, within the Financial Services and Capital Planning Division.
The System Excellence Division, through its Field Services Branch, provides system level assurance that Alberta’s education landscape operates with integrity, compliance, and continuous improvement. The division oversees the monitoring, evaluation, and accreditation of independent schools, and charter schools, ensuring alignment with legislative, regulatory, and policy requirements. Through expert analysis, collaborative partnerships, and evidence based decision making, Field Services supports public confidence in Alberta’s education system while enabling high quality educational outcomes for children and students across the province.

Reporting to the Field Services Manager who leads a team in supporting the department, Minister of Education, public, separate, charter and independent school authorities across a broad geographic area of the province.
The Field Services Assurance Officer promotes innovation and system effectiveness; monitors and provides direction for provincial education authorities for compliance on planning, reporting and accountability/assurance requirements
The position also supports stakeholders with issues management and fosters continuous improvement.

University graduation in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by 4 (four) years related experience.
• Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Assets:
• An active Alberta Teaching Certificate would be an asset.
• Master’s Degree is an asset
• Comprehensive knowledge of government strategic priorities, policy directions, and ministry business plan goals.
• Overall operations of the Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system, including the management of numerous school authorities and schools
• Knowledge of MS Officer Products primarily MS Word and Excel
• Good understanding of Indigenous knowledge, traditions and cultures of FNMI people and applicable provincial legislation and regulations,
• Experience working with independent schools, charter schools’ authorities.
• Facilitation, mediation and consensus building skills in complex and conflicting circumstances involving multiple people or organizations
• Experience in managing grants, contracts, or RFP processes would be a strong asset
