Job Description

Job Location: Westfalia Technologies - York, PA 17406, Westfalia Technologies is a leader in providing automated solutions for plants, warehouses, and distribution centers. We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Field Service Technician to join our team. The Field Service Technician performs foundational service, installation, and preventative maintenance activities on Westfalia equipment. This position provides hands-on training and experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting while supporting customers through guided service work. Technicians will work both in-house and at customer sites, with supervision and increasing independence as skills develop.

Location Requirements: York, Pa or surrounding region preferred. Candidates within a 75 mile radius of Westfalia Headquarters will be considered.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support for Westfalia equipment, including S/RMs, conveyors, palletizers, and robots.
  • Assist with equipment inspections, diagnostics, adjustments, and service activities under guidance as needed.
  • Support parts and service sales by identifying customer needs and assisting with service and parts orders.
  • Communicate with customers regarding service activities, equipment conditions, and follow-up needs.
  • Complete daily service reports, service orders, expense reports, and other required documentation.
  • Coordinate information between customers, working supervisors, and internal teams to support timely resolution of service needs.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Service, and other internal teams to support customer requirements and field service activities.
  • Follow established safety procedures and service processes while continuing to develop technical skills.
  • Maintain professional customer relationships and contribute to teamwork within the Service Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Foundational mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn diagnostic tools, schematics, and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions, established procedures, and safety protocols
  • Ability to work independently after receiving appropriate instruction and guidance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software
  • Ability to travel by air and meet the requirements to rent and operate a vehicle through the company’s corporate rental account, in accordance with rental agency policies and insurance requirements
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening and drug screening

Desired Skills

  • Hands-on experience working with mechanical or electrical systems
  • Exposure to industrial automation, material handling equipment, or industrial maintenance
  • Familiarity with mechanical or electrical schematics
  • Previous customer service or field service experience
  • Mechatronics experience
  • Millwright experience
  • Spanish language skills

Education and Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in automation, industrial maintenance, electrical/mechanical systems, or a related field
  • Technical school, vocational training, relevant coursework, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
  • Prior hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical systems preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb fixed vertical ladders up to 135 feet
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in elevated positions for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and handle components, tools, and equipment as required
  • Ability to work in cold, hot, noisy, and elevated environments
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Travel Requirements

  • Travel required approximately 50–80% of the time, including travel to customer locations
  • Position may require air travel and use of rental vehicles for business purposes
  • Driving is the primary means of travel; occasional air travel is required
  • Occasional International travel to Canada, Mexico, and Argentina may be required based on customer and project needs

Work Authorization

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in industrial, warehouse, and customer-site environments with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, and noise
  • Work may be performed in temperatures ranging from approximately -40°F to 110°F depending on customer site conditions
  • Work may involve elevated areas, including fixed vertical ladders up to 135 feet
