The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing field service activities at customer sites in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This role involves troubleshooting and servicing mechanical, electrical, diesel, and other technical equipment, performing preventative maintenance, managing parts inventory, and identifying and resolving safety issues involving both Company- and customer-owned equipment.

The Field Service Technician works directly with customers and may support multiple sites and technologies depending on the business unit and location. Critical thinking, troubleshooting, and the ability to assess situations and develop effective solutions are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Create and maintain a safe working environment and culture within the organization and at customer sites.
  • Perform field service, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair activities on equipment and systems.
  • Identify and address safety concerns involving Company- and customer-owned equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate parts inventory and ensure Company property is properly cared for.
  • Demonstrate a high-impact culture through innovation, accountability, and empowerment.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with customers, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
  • Work under direct supervision when required while demonstrating the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and professionally with customers and internal teams.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

Requirements

  • Travel may occur and include overnight stays and time away from home.
  • Ability to work at multiple customer sites and with various equipment and technologies as required by the business unit.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0–2 years of technical work experience; 1 year preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a technical, mechanical, electrical, diesel, plumbing, HVAC, construction, or related field is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain all required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.), as applicable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card, if required for the position.
  • Clean and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing environment preferred.

Driving Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must meet Company requirements for driving a Company vehicle.
  • Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and driving history.
  • Must complete all required driver documentation and acknowledgments.
  • Must meet any applicable DOT requirements based on the position and business unit.
  • Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license and any other required documentation.
  • Must successfully complete any required driving or vehicle-related training.

Skill Requirements

  • Mechanical, electrical, diesel, fusion, or related technical experience depending on the business unit.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
  • Technically sound with the ability to learn and apply new technologies and processes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and smart devices.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize technical information and communicate it clearly.
  • Ability to assess customer needs and experiences to develop effective solutions and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to solve problems in novel and unexpected situations.

Compensation

The estimated pay rate for this position is $25.00 per hour. The actual pay rate offered may be higher based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
