The Field Service Technician is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting pumps and related equipment both in the field and at the service shop. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with diesel-powered equipment, and basic electrical troubleshooting skills. The technician will safely diagnose and repair equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and provide quality service while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This position requires frequent travel to customer sites using a company vehicle.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain pumps and related equipment in both the field and service shop.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, diesel, and electrical issues on equipment.
  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation of repairs.
  • Follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment status and repair recommendations.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete service work efficiently.
  • Demonstrate accountability, problem-solving, and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • 0–2 years of field service, diesel, mechanical, or industrial equipment experience (1+ year preferred).
  • Experience repairing pumps or rotating equipment is preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Experience working on diesel-powered equipment.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repairs.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and mobile devices for service documentation.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to customer sites is required.
  • Overnight travel may be required based on business needs.

Driving Requirements

This position requires operating a company vehicle. Candidates must:

  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Have and maintain a clean driving record that meets company standards.
  • Be able to safely operate a company vehicle while traveling to customer locations.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to obtain required customer site clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.) as needed.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and work around industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
