The Field Service Technician provides first and second level hands on support of the entire division’s IT environment. Works closely with end users and divisional leadership to ensure division’s IT needs and concerns are being addressed, and collaborates with Regional leaders to promote divisional needs to Home Office support teams.
What you will do:
Installs new software, hardware and peripheral components, such as monitors, keyboards, and printers for customers. following defined processes or installation specifications.
Responds to client’s inquiries concerning systems operations, including diagnosing system hardware, software, and operator problems
Performs warranty repairs on all desktop and laptop computers.
Recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation.
Provides hardware support, limited to simple diagnostic troubleshooting of printers, warehouse and transportation (Transpro) handheld devices and the ability to utilize 2nd level support and/or vendors for repairs.
Performs first level diagnostics & troubleshooting of network issues (connectivity, WiFi)
Performs Network cabling, punch-downs and jack installation per Network standards
Assists with racking and installing networking hardware per Network team instructions
Performs racking and installation of servers and other IT hardware into network racks/cabinets per support team instructions
Escalates divisional outages or impairments using defined communication processes and procedures.
Serves as secondary division liaison in information systems management initiatives.
Provides a second line of support to internal GFS customers. Provides solutions to hardware and software issues.
Maintains appropriate technology spare pool.
Enforces divisional compliance of Grand Rapids technology standards.
Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas.
Provides on-call and weekend support as needed
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
When you will work:
Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
Onsite 5 days/week
What you’ll bring to the table:
Must obtain CompTIA A+ certification within 12 months of hire.
Must complete the CNET Low Voltage cable Installer certification within 12 months.
Must become Lenovo and Dell warranty certified within 12 months of hire.
Three years previous personal computer and peripheral experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
Must be able to provide Network and server support.
Must have innovation, creativity, and problem solving skills.
Time management skills
Organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Able to manage change and conflict and collaborate with team.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance.
