Field Service Technician – Mission Completion Products (MCP)
Primary Responsibilities
- Service, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair customer-owned equipment, including but not limited to centrifugal pumps and frac hoses, supported by the Mission Completion Products (MCP) group.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and service activities at NOV facilities and customer locations as required.
- Execute all work in accordance with NOV Quality Assurance (QA) procedures, departmental work instructions, and safety standards.
- Disassemble equipment to inspect components, identify failures, and determine required repairs.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues related to PP&C equipment.
- Assist with actuator calibration, functional verification, and testing of control components.
- Support system diagnostics to identify operational, reliability, and performance issues within PP&C equipment and associated systems.
- Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Frac Protection Systems designed to protect personnel and equipment during high-pressure operations.
- Inspect components for corrosion, defects, damage, excessive wear, and other conditions that may affect equipment performance.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions using observations, testing methods, schematics, assembly drawings, work instructions, and established procedures.
- Request, install, and verify replacement parts in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and with a strong commitment to quality. Prepare surfaces and components appropriately to prevent damage during assembly and testing.
- Perform functional testing and test runs to verify repaired equipment meets operational and performance specifications.
- Serve as the PP&C field representative during new product trials, acting as the primary point of contact for customers.
- Troubleshoot issues with new equipment and provide field performance feedback to engineering teams to support continuous product improvement.
- Identify barriers to customer adoption of new MCP technologies and communicate field-user perspectives to product development and engineering teams.
- Travel on short notice to customer locations to troubleshoot equipment, support critical operations, and serve as NOV's point of contact during non-productive time (NPT) events.
- Participate in training and development activities as directed by management.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Facility / Group Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Mission Completion Products product lines.
- Gain proficiency in MCP service procedures, operational processes, and best practices.
- Establish familiarity with MCP engineering teams, product line managers, and new product development managers.
- Become proficient in applicable NOV software systems, ERP platforms, and service applications.
Education & Experience Qualifications
Required
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to successfully pass a three-year driving history review.
- High school diploma or equivalent; alternatively, five (5) or more years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience using hand tools, torque wrenches, power drills, and other common service equipment.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic systems, electrical components, and system diagnostics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn ERP and service management software.
Preferred
- Previous oilfield service experience.
- Experience supporting actuator calibration, equipment testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Familiarity with Frac Protection Systems or high-pressure safety systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pressure-containing equipment, hydrostatic pressure testing equipment, and associated testing procedures.
Job Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to NOV facilities and customer locations in support of service operations.
- Perform only those tasks for which appropriate authorization and training have been provided.
