We are seeking a motivated and dependable Field Service Technician with hands-on experience in low voltage cabling, access control, AV installations, and basic IT support. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the field, solving technical problems, and supporting commercial technology installations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable pulling cable, terminating connections, installing devices, troubleshooting systems, and interacting professionally with clients onsite.

Responsibilities:

Low Voltage & Cabling

  • Pull, route, and secure low voltage cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber, speaker wire, and coax
  • Install and terminate keystone jacks, patch panels, RJ45 connectors, and wall plates
  • Test and troubleshoot structured cabling installations
  • Label and document cable runs and equipment

Access Control & Security

  • Install and troubleshoot badge access systems, card readers, door strikes, mag locks, and request-to-exit devices
  • Assist with security camera installations and basic configuration
  • Mount and connect low voltage devices according to industry standards

Audio / Visual (AV)

  • Install TVs, conference room equipment, speakers, amplifiers, and AV control devices
  • Run and terminate speaker wire and HDMI/extender systems
  • Assist with conference room and digital signage deployments

IT Support

  • Provide basic desktop and network troubleshooting
  • Install and configure workstations, printers, monitors, and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving switches, Wi-Fi access points, and end-user devices
  • Support Microsoft 365 and general end-user technology issues when needed

General Field Work

  • Maintain a professional appearance and communication with clients
  • Accurately document work completed onsite
  • Follow safety procedures and company standards
  • Work independently or with a project lead to complete installations on schedule

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in low voltage installation (structured cabling, AV, access control, or similar trade).
  • Working knowledge of industry standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC Article 725).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, wiring diagrams, and equipment spec sheets.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools commonly used in low voltage work (drill, fish tape, cable tester, punch-down tool, crimpers).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple job sites simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle required; travel to job sites is a regular part of this role. Mileage reimbursement provided per company policy.
  • Willingness to learn and assist with IT support functions including basic networking, device setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, clients, and general contractors on site.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required.

Qualifications

  • Experience pulling and terminating low voltage cabling
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best practices
  • Experience with badge access systems and security device installation
  • Familiarity with AV installations and TV mounting
  • Basic understanding of networking and IT troubleshooting
  • Ability to use cable testers, toner tools, drills, ladders, and hand tools
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with access control platforms such as Verkada, HID Global, or similar systems
  • Experience with wireless access points and network switches
  • OSHA, lift, or low voltage certifications
  • Experience working in commercial environments
