The Field Service Technician is responsible for traveling to customer sites to install, configure, and support electrical and mechanical systems across airport environments. This role is highly hands-on and focused on the installation and setup of equipment, basic system configuration, and supporting the successful deployment of integrated systems in the field.

This position offers the opportunity to build skills in controls and automation, with training provided on internal systems, PLC platforms, and troubleshooting tools. The ideal candidate brings foundational electrical or mechanical experience along with strong technical curiosity and the ability to work in dynamic, physically demanding environments.

**Please note: This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn controls systems and grow into automation and PLC technologies, even if you do not have prior controls experience. We’ll train you if you have some basic electrical diagnosis experience and some HVAC skills.

This role is hourly which means an excellent opportunity to earn overtime pay.

We pay a large per diem every day you’re traveling.

YOUR IMPACT
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned

  • Install, configure, and support airport equipment including gate systems, ground power units, PCA units, and related infrastructure
  • Perform hands-on electrical and mechanical installation of hardware and components in the field
  • Set up and configure basic network connections, including IP addressing and system communication between devices
  • Support system bring-up activities, including connecting and initializing controllers and field equipment
  • Utilize troubleshooting tools to identify and resolve issues related to electrical systems, controls, and network connectivity
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams and safely use testing equipment such as electrical meters
  • Ensure safe work practices by performing hazard assessments and following safety protocols at all job sites
  • Work at heights using ladders or lifts and operate safely in a variety of environmental conditions
  • Communicate effectively with customers on-site to support installation, provide updates, and address basic technical questions
  • Document installation activities, issues, and resolutions accurately
  • Collaborate with internal teams to escalate and resolve more complex technical issues

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED and three (3) or more years of relevant experience in machine assembly, light fabrication; or previous relevant contracting experience with Oshkosh Corporation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Comfort working at heights and in physically demanding environments
  • Valid driver’s license must be maintained at all times.
  • Ability to possess a DOT card.
  • Ability to obtain a passport and pass a TSA background check
  • Ability to travel up to 80%, including extended rotations and overnight travel.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hands-on experience with electrical systems, electronics, or mechanical and electrical integration
  • Basic to intermediate computer and networking skills, including the ability to configure IP addresses and connect to control systems
  • Experience installing or servicing systems such as security systems, alarm systems, panel builds, or similar technical equipment
  • Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff
  • Experience working in field service or installation environments requiring travel

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role is primarily field-based and requires frequent travel to customer sites. Work is performed in a wide range of environments including outdoor conditions and active airport settings.

Daily responsibilities include climbing ladders or lifts, carrying tools, and working in varying temperatures and weather conditions. The role requires physical capability to perform installation work safely and effectively, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Pay Range:

$57,600.00 - $90,400.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
