The Field Service Technician is responsible for traveling to customer sites (airports) to perform installation, configuration, service, maintenance, and repair of passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) and related airport ground support equipment, including JetAire and Jetpower systems. This role supports field operations and requires a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to learn and apply technical procedures in real-world environments.

We pay a per diem every night you spend away from home when traveling (up to 80% travel).

This is hourly, so we pay overtime as well.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned

  • Perform installation, configuration, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems including HVAC-related components
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system malfunctions using established methods and technical knowledge
  • You will learn to diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on:
    • Passenger boarding bridge systems (including drive systems, elevation/lift mechanisms, rotunda and cab assemblies)
    • Electrical and control systems (wiring, relays, sensors, PLCs, and control panels)
    • JetAire and Jetpower systems (including PCA units, ground power units, and associated components)
    • Mechanical systems (gearboxes, bearings, structural components, and docking mechanisms)
  • Perform service, maintenance, and repair of passenger boarding bridges (PBBs), including electrical, mechanical, and control system components
  • Conduct a Hazard Safety Assessment prior to each job to ensure a safe working environment
  • Travel regularly to domestic and occasional international customer sites to perform field service functions
  • Maintain and manage service tools and repair inventory in field service vehicle
  • Communicate directly with customers to assess product usage, gather technical feedback, and provide basic operational guidance
  • Provide product orientation and support to customers on operational and maintenance aspects of equipment
  • Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to senior technicians or engineering support
  • Assist service centers and dealer technicians with troubleshooting support when needed
  • Document service activities, repair actions, and customer interactions clearly and accurately
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and failure reporting processes

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED and three (3) or more years of relevant experience in machine assembly, automotive or equipment maintenance, facilities maintenance, or light fabrication; or previous relevant contracting experience with Oshkosh Corporation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the role
  • Valid driver’s license must be maintained at all times
  • Ability to obtain a passport
  • Ability to pass a TSA background check
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills with foundational electrical troubleshooting capability
  • Ability to read and interpret basic schematics and technical documentation
    Ability to travel up to 80%

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical degree preferred
  • Exposure to PLCs, automation systems, or control systems
  • Experience in construction equipment, heavy equipment, or automotive service environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a customer-facing role with strong communication skills

  • This role combines office-based administrative duties with physical activity in field or production environments.
  • In the office setting, tasks may require extended computer use, sitting, and attending meetings.
  • Field or floor work may involve walking across various terrains or shop floors, standing, moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs, and exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels.
  • Must be able to shift focus between detailed cognitive work and occasional physical tasks as needed.

Pay Range:

$57,600.00 - $90,400.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
