Job Description

Job Title Field Service Technician

Purpose This position entails providing practical and technical expertise for installing and maintaining specialised parking systems.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with and/or oversee installing new Company products and systems into designated car parking sites per standard installation practices, including wireless sensors, communications gateways and related RF hardware, electronic signage and ANPR/LPR cameras.
  • Assigning unique software identifiers to sensors and related hardware.
  • Programming sensors with the correct software settings as specified for the site.
  • Setting up and commissioning the RF network to support the SmartCloud reporting and management system.
  • Provide post-installation maintenance and support to installed Company sites per agreed service agreements.
  • Assist other Company Installation Technicians with maintaining workshop and warehouse facilities to the required standard including tools and equipment.
  • Maintain Company vehicles to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by Company staff.
  • Attend training as appropriate to further develop relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Liaising with customers as required providing first-line support
  • Maintain and update the customer issues log
  • Provide feedback to customers on issue resolution as required
  • Provide support to the installation team before and during new site installations
  • Work with both customers and SPT staff to assist with the bedding in of systems post-installation
  • Maintaining comprehensive site records
  • Developing and maintaining procedural and process documentation
  • Preparing test sites for demonstrations
  • Act as liaison between the SPT R&D team and the customer

Skills, Experience & Education

  • Experience working with power tools and other light machinery such as generators, etc
  • Experience in the Parking or Security industry would be advantageous
  • Good level of computer literacy
  • Some practical work experience in a manual environment is desirable but not essential
  • A good level of physical fitness
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • A practical "can do" attitude
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • A willingness to be flexible in terms of work hours
  • A willingness to learn from others and take lessons from on-the-job experiences
  • Availability to travel both domestically and internationally as required
