ABOUT THE ROLE:


The Field Service Technician is a hands‑on, customer‑focused role responsible for the installation, configuration, support, and maintenance of EFTPOS terminals and POS systems across PayNuts’ merchant base. This role works on‑site with retail and hospitality customers to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient payment and POS operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
On a day-to-day basis the responsibilities of the Field Service Technician are:

  • Install, configure, replace, and decommission EFTPOS terminals and POS hardware, including upgrades, swaps, relocations, and pre‑handover testing
  • Provide on‑site technical support, troubleshooting EFTPOS, POS, peripherals, and connectivity issues
  • Support standalone and integrated EFTPOS solutions, including basic POS–EFTPOS integration and payment flow troubleshooting
  • Provision and prepare devices, firmware, software builds, SIMs, and peripherals for deployment
  • Coordinate logistics and asset management, including dispatch, returns, refurbishment, and accurate tracking of equipment
  • Deliver on‑site merchant support and basic training, maintaining clear job notes and adhering to PCI‑DSS, security, and data‑handling requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

  • Background in field service, IT support, POS support, or technical service roles
  • Hands‑on experience supporting EFTPOS terminals and/or POS systems
  • Experience working in retail or hospitality environments (preferred)

Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving capability
  • Working knowledge of networking (LAN, Wi‑Fi, 4G/5G)
  • Confident communicator with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a field‑based schedule
  • Current Australian driver’s licence
