The Opportunity

The Senior Field Service Technician ľ Generators is a highly skilled field professional responsible for advanced installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial generator systems. This role requires independent problem-solving, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to mentor and guide junior technicians. The senior technician ensures equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service.

What you will do?

  • Lead installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and repair of complex generator systems and related control equipment.
  • Diagnose advanced electrical, mechanical, and operational issues, performing root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Conduct load bank testing, system inspections, and performance verification to ensure optimal generator operation.
  • Serve as a technical resource for junior technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and training.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute multiple service calls or projects independently, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Collaborate with customers, project managers, and engineering teams to resolve complex service needs and provide expert technical support.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide technical leadership during emergency service situations.
  • Identify opportunities for process, equipment, or procedural improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associateĺs or Bachelorĺs degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in generator service, controls, or related electrical/mechanical field, including prior mentoring or leadership experience.
  • Valid driverĺs license and ability to travel to customer sites.
  • Relevant certifications, such as OSHA, NFPA, ASE, or manufacturer-specific training, preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of generator systems, electrical controls, and mechanical components.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools, meters, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, OSHA/NFPA standards, and industry best practices.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various environments, including outdoor, industrial, and confined spaces.
