The Opportunity

The Field Service Technician – Controls is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial generator systems. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to work independently in field environments. The technician ensures reliable, safe, and efficient operation of customer generator systems while delivering excellent service.

What you will do?

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial generator systems and related control equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and performance verification, including load bank testing, to ensure optimal operation.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and operational issues and determine corrective actions to restore functionality.
  • Collaborate with customers, project managers, and other field personnel to resolve service needs and provide technical support.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate service reports, work orders, and documentation of parts, labor, and recommendations.
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and industry standards in field operations.
  • Assist with setting up tools, equipment, and work areas at job sites.
  • Provide support during emergency service calls and participate in on-call rotations as required.
  • Travel to customer sites and adapt to varied environments, including outdoor, industrial, and confined spaces.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in Electrical Technology, Controls, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in electrical or generator service, controls, or mechanical/electrical field work.
  • Knowledge of generator systems, electrical circuits, and control components.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, meters, diagnostic equipment, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to follow instructions, troubleshoot under supervision, and perform tasks independently with growing expertise.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • OSHA 10 or other safety certifications preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders or lifts, and operate in tight or elevated spaces.
