Job Description

Objectives of Incumbent:

The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, and direct the service start-up activities of Thermal Services in Malaysia. The role ensures efficient execution of the start-up team to achieve sales targets within budget and always maintain the company’s image and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Execution:

  • Ensure the division operates efficiently and delivers high standards of customer service.
  • Develop project plans and manage resources to support project execution.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Manager (Thermal) - Start-up to prepare forecasts and manage P&L, including orders, sales, and SG&A.
  • Ensure purchasing procedures are followed and control local expenses within budget.
  • Liaise with project and service operations teams to ensure all projects have appropriate resources.
  • Maintain company equipment, vehicles, and capital assets in good working order.
  • Ensure spare stocks and materials meet requirements and conduct regular stock audits.
  • Report to the Senior Operation Manager monthly and highlight any regional issues promptly.
  • Assist in training and participate in customer demonstrations or promotional seminars.
  • Prepare and develop regular reports and analyses of business achievements, opportunities, and KPI performance.
  • Review, develop, communicate sales policies and procedures to create a high-performing team.
  • Manage and optimize the sales process for effective productivity.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to expand project services and actively engage prospects and customers.
  • Work closely with the National Service Sales Manager to grow service offerings.

Planning, Process and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Operation Manager to develop short- and long-term business plans.
  • Lead diverse projects aimed at improving operational and sales performance.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify and address business improvement opportunities.

WHS, Environment & Quality:

  • Comply with all Work Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
  • Actively promote workplace safety.
  • Ensure accurate timesheet completion and submission with required documentation.

Education/Qualification:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical field.
  • Trade or Engineering qualifications desirable
  • 3–5 years minimum experience in commissioning, start‑up, or servicing of thermal systems.
    • Hands‑on experience with:
      • Precision cooling units (e.g., Vertiv CRV/CRAH)
      • DX and chilled‑water cooling systems
      • CDU setups and hydronic balancing
      • Control system setup, calibration, and HMI interface
    • Ability to lead CxL1 to CxL5 activities including:
      • Power‑up checks
      • Control logic testing
      • Functional & performance verification
      • Integration testing with BMS
      • Site acceptance testing (SAT) and documentation
    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for resolving thermal operational issues.
    • Confident in facing customers and providing technical explanation during start‑up.
    • Ability to guide and supervise Customer Engineers (CEs) during commissioning.
    • Familiar with safety protocols (LOTO, site safety, cooling system handling).
    • Ability to prepare test scripts, start‑up forms, and handover documentation.
    • Good communication skills when dealing with customers, PM, and site stakeholders.
    • Strong leadership to take charge of testing & commissioning activities.
    • Self‑driven, responsible, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
    • Willing to travel and support regional projects (MY/BN/SG if needed).
    • Availability for standby or after‑hours support depending on project need.
    • Physically fit for site activities.
    • Team-oriented, able to mentor growing CE teams.
    • Professional certifications in HVAC, refrigeration, or thermal systems are an added advantage.
    • Strong understanding of data center cooling technologies (CRAC/CRAH, InRow/CRV, CDU, Chilled Water systems).
