About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Field Service Foreman to lead our Field Service team, supporting both CI and RI operations across the Rockhampton region, ensuring reliability and performance for our customers. This opportunity includes an even-time roster.

As a Field Service Fitter at Hastings Deering, you will:

  • Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to a team of 16 Field Service Technicians.

  • Ensure safety standards are maintained.

  • Determine target hours for work required and communicate with field technicians.

  • Answer all field service enquires and calls for the Central Queensland Region.

  • Provide after hour’s callout assistance.

  • Organise parts, labour, accommodation & tooling to conduct field repairs.

  • Coordinate team of tradesman & apprentices providing technical guidance & assistance.

  • Assist Field Technicians with in-depth diagnostic and Failure Analysis.

  • Participate and contribute to Continuous improvement ideas and execution of these ideas.

  • Manage changes to schedule and fitter availability when unforeseen absences present.

  • Ensuring maintenance is performed on all service trucks and associated tooling/equipment.

  • Work Collaboratively with the other Foremen and greater Field Service and service teams to ensure that all customer needs are met.

About You

A successful teammate will have:

  • Trade qualifications – Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.

  • Caterpillar product knowledge – experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.

  • Customer-focused mindset – confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.

  • Safety-first approach – committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.

  • Valid driver’s licence – required to travel between customer sites across the Rockhampton region.

  • Management of personnel – previous experience managing a project or team is highly desirable.
