We're seeking experienced and motivated Field Service Fitters to join our team in Weipa, providing expert maintenance and repair support at Skardon River This is an exciting opportunity to enjoy the variety and autonomy of field service work while building your career with a trusted industry leader.

Working an 8/6 FIFO roster, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a range of mining and construction equipment, ensuring maximum reliability and performance for our customers.

What you’ll be doing
As a Field Service Fitter at Hastings Deering, you will:

  • Maintain and repair equipment – diagnose, service, and repair heavy mining and construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Prevent downtime – perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs in the field to maximise equipment availability and productivity.
  • Keep accurate records – complete detailed service and maintenance documentation to support compliance, reporting, and equipment history.
  • Support customers – deliver exceptional customer service and technical support, providing timely advice and effective solutions.
  • Work safely every day – maintain a strong commitment to safety standards, site requirements, and compliance procedures at all times.

What you’ll need:

A successful teammate will have experience in:

  • Bring your trade expertise – hold a trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with a strong focus on quality workmanship.
  • Solve complex issues – apply strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills to identify problems and deliver effective repair solutions.
  • Leverage industry experience – experience working on mining or construction equipment will be highly regarded.
  • Work autonomously – demonstrate the ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote field service environment.
  • Put safety and customers first – maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Be FIFO ready – FIFO from Cairns is preferred, supporting site-based field service requirements.
  • Hold relevant licences – possess HRWL tickets including Forklift, Dogger, Rigger, and Working at Heights, along with a current Driver’s Licence.
