Job Description

At UVeye, we're on a mission to redefine vehicle safety and reliability on a global scale. Founded in 2016, we pioneered the world's first fully automated suite of vehicle inspection systems. At the heart of this innovation lies our advanced AI-centric technology, representing the pinnacle of computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI within the automotive sector.

With over $380M in funding and strategic partnerships with industry giants such as Toyota, Amazon, General Motors, Volvo, and Hertz, our technology is utilized in manufacturing plants, dealerships, wholesale auctions, delivery fleets, seaports, and more. Our growing global team of 250+ employees is committed to creating a workplace that celebrates diversity, encourages teamwork, and strives for excellence.

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for leading the installation, deployment, and ongoing service of UVeye’s automated vehicle inspection systems across customer sites throughout the United States. This role serves as the primary on-site technical authority, overseeing third-party contractors, executing system installations, and ensuring all deployments meet engineering, safety, and quality standards.

The FSE operates in a highly dynamic, field-based environment and plays a critical role in delivering reliable, high-performance systems while maintaining a seamless customer experience. This position requires strong technical expertise across hardware and software systems, hands-on problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to lead installation activities under varying site conditions.

This is a travel-intensive role (up to 100%), requiring continuous mobility between customer locations, including dealerships, manufacturing plants, logistics hubs, and other operational environments.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Field Installation Leadership and Execution. Own and execute on-site system installations, guiding contractors and ensuring alignment with engineering specifications, timelines, and quality standards. This role operates within a tiered structure, with expanded leadership responsibilities based on performance and business needs.
  • Project Delivery and Time Management. Deliver projects on time with a first-time-right mindset while owning time and execution in a dynamic field environment.
  • System Deployment, Configuration, and Validation. Install, configure, and validate UVeye inspection systems, including electrical, mechanical, networking, and civil components. Ensure systems are fully operational, calibrated, and meet performance and reliability requirements prior to customer handoff.
  • Technical Troubleshooting and System Diagnostics. Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and integration issues in real-time. Perform structured troubleshooting across Linux-based systems, networking infrastructure, and physical components to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintenance Operations and Service Delivery. Perform preventive maintenance and emergency service activities across deployed systems. Monitor system performance, proactively identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain system uptime and operational continuity.
  • Safety Compliance and Risk Management. Ensure full compliance with safety standards and operational protocols across all field activities. Identify potential hazards, enforce safety practices, and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel and contractors.
  • Site Assessment and Technical Planning. Review and interpret site layouts, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using AutoCAD or similar tools. Execute installations based on site plans provided by implementation teams, ensuring alignment during on-site execution. Escalate any deviations between planned and actual site conditions immediately.
  • Customer-Facing Technical Representation. Act as the primary technical point of contact on-site, representing UVeye with professionalism and technical expertise. Manage customer expectations, provide clear communication, and ensure a high-quality installation and service experience.
  • Technical Documentation and Reporting. Create and maintain detailed documentation including installation reports, service records, and maintenance procedures. Ensure accurate tracking of system configurations, issues, and resolutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Escalation Support. Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and operations teams to escalate and resolve complex issues. Provide field feedback to support continuous improvement of system performance and deployment processes.
  • Operational Execution in Dynamic Environments. Operate effectively in fast-paced and evolving field environments, demonstrating strong adaptability, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities while maintaining high standards of execution.
