We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our service team in Israel, including support at Ben Gurion Airport and other customer sites, supporting our market-leading Explosive Detection Systems (EDS), Conventional X-Ray Systems (CXS) and Computed Tomography (CT) security screening equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, customer interaction, and working with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced operational environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional technical support and ensuring maximum equipment availability for our customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, maintaining, repairing and servicing Smiths Detection equipment at customer locations.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical and system faults.
  • Performing preventative maintenance activities in accordance with agreed schedules.
  • Providing technical support and training to customers when required.
  • Maintaining accurate service records, reports and documentation.
  • Managing spare parts ordering, installation and returns.
  • Reviewing service logs and preparing customer reports.
  • Supporting installation projects, upgrades and pilot programmes.
  • Identifying recurring technical issues and driving corrective actions.
  • Promoting service contracts, upgrades and revenue-generating service opportunities.
  • Ensuring tools, test equipment and calibration requirements are properly maintained.
  • Building strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Adhering to all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Working Environment

This role is primarily field-based and will involve travel across Israel, including support at Ben Gurion Airport and other customer sites.

The position may require:

  • Travel throughout the region
  • Occasional overtime
  • Flexible working hours outside standard Sunday-Thursday operating schedules
  • Participation in special projects and high-visibility customer activities

Qualifications

  • Practical Electronics Engineering qualification, Electrical Engineering qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years' experience in a field service, maintenance, technical support or repair environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience using hand tools, test equipment and measurement devices.
  • Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills in customer-facing environments.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting X-Ray, CT, imaging or security screening equipment.
  • Background in industrial, instrumentation, automation, medical devices or airport technologies.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar service management systems.
  • Experience working within regulated operational environments.
