We are calling for Expressions of Interest from experienced and motivated Field Service Fitters to join our Cairns team, supporting customers across the Marine and Power Generation sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on world-class equipment across navy, commercial and private vessels, while being part of a high-performing team delivering exceptional service in a dynamic field environment.

What you’ll be doing

As a Field Service Fitter at Hastings Deering, you will:

  • Provide on-site support – travel to customer locations to deliver maintenance, repairs and technical support.
  • Diagnose and repair – perform fault finding, breakdown response and warranty work to minimise downtime.
  • Rebuild and service equipment – carry out engine rebuilds, servicing and major component repairs.
  • Maintain performance – ensure equipment is returned to service safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Deliver customer value – provide exceptional service to maximise equipment performance and reliability.
  • Work safely, always – follow all workplace health and safety procedures and best practices.

What you’ll need

A successful teammate will bring:

  • Trade qualification – Certificate III in Engineering (Diesel Fitting preferred) or similar mechanical trade
  • Relevant experience – working on industrial engines (marine experience highly regarded)
  • Strong technical skills – excellent diagnostic and fault-finding capability
  • Self-motivation – the ability to work independently and proactively in the field
  • Safety focus – a strong commitment to safe work practices and quality outcomes
  • Communication skills – effective time management and clear communication
