Job Description

As a Field Support Technologist at Altera, you will provide critical on-site technical support to our customers, ensuring optimal performance and resolution of complex issues related to our semiconductor products and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • This role is for North American and potentially expanded to world wide.
  • Focus on customer applications work, such as design conversions, simulations, system architecture proposals, RTL designs, Benchmarking, POC creations
  • Deep dive into various silicon interfaces, such as DSP, Memory controllers, PCIe/DMA, Serdes, and Networking
  • Focus on various vertical segments, such as AI, Data center, Communications, Video, and others. The candidate needs to be familiar with 1 or 2 vertical segment
  • Drive for design win by assisting sales on critical opportunities.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues on Altera products at customer sites.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to customers on product usage, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, sales, and support teams to escalate and resolve complex technical problems.

The compensation below is reflective of a sales role that includes a salary + incentive. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor within the US market. Actual compensation may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc.

$209.2K - $308.2K USD

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a field support, applications engineering, or customer-facing technical role within the semiconductor industry.
  • Strong understanding of FPGA architecture, design flows, and development tools (e.g., Quartus Prime).
  • Strong design, RTL, and software background and experiences
  • Proficiency in debugging complex hardware and software systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to customer sites.
  • Experience with various operating systems (Windows, Linux) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) is a plus.
