The Field Sales Manager will oversee day-to-day field activity, establish priorities and performance expectations, analyze sales and activity reporting, recruit and develop sales talent, coordinate customer and channel activities, and manage the team's operating expenses.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of six Field Sales Representatives.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, sales objectives, and field activity goals.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, team meetings, ride-alongs, and performance reviews.
  • Monitor individual and team performance and implement action plans to address gaps.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify training and development needs and provide ongoing coaching and support.
  • Recognize and reward strong performance while addressing performance issues appropriately.

Sales & Field Execution

  • Develop and execute field sales strategies aligned with company and customer objectives.
  • Manage field coverage, customer visits, product demonstrations, training, merchandising, and other sales activities.
  • Ensure Field Sales Representatives are spending time on the highest-value customers, locations, and opportunities.
  • Monitor execution of sales programs, promotions, new product launches, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to increase sales, market share, distribution, and customer engagement.
  • Regularly participate in customer visits and field activities with the sales team.
  • Use field observations and customer feedback to identify opportunities and communicate insights to leadership.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Develop and maintain regular sales, activity, and performance reporting for the field organization.
  • Track key performance indicators including sales results, customer visits, productivity, program execution, and other relevant metrics.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring corrective action.
  • Provide regular updates and business reviews to sales leadership.
  • Ensure field representatives maintain accurate and timely activity reporting.
  • Translate data and field observations into actionable recommendations.

IC Channel Account Executive Coordination

  • Partner closely with IC Channel Account Executives to coordinate customer strategies and field execution.
  • Align Field Sales Representative activities with account priorities, customer initiatives, and sales plans.
  • Facilitate communication between field representatives and account executives.
  • Coordinate customer visits, events, product demonstrations, training, and other joint activities.
  • Ensure field feedback and customer intelligence are communicated back to the appropriate account teams.

Recruiting & Talent Management

  • Partner with leadership and Human Resources to identify, recruit, and hire qualified Field Sales Representatives.
  • Develop candidate profiles and participate in the interview and selection process.
  • Onboard and train new team members.
  • Establish performance expectations and development plans for new hires.
  • Maintain a strong talent pipeline to support future team growth.

Expense & Budget Management

  • Manage field sales expenses and ensure spending is aligned with approved budgets.
  • Review and approve team expense reports in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor travel, customer entertainment, training, promotional, and other field-related expenses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency while maintaining effective field coverage.
  • Provide visibility to leadership regarding budget utilization and anticipated expenses.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, Operations, and other internal teams.
  • Communicate market conditions, competitive activity, customer feedback, and field opportunities to leadership.
  • Support new product launches and strategic initiatives through effective field execution.
  • Represent the company professionally with customers, channel partners, and industry stakeholders.
