Function: Environmental, Health & SafetyJob Summary:The Field Safety Specialist is an integral member of the CF industries’ team and you will have a significant impact on the personal safety, emergency preparedness, and response performance of the facility. You will be responsible for implementing specific programs, leading, and training teams on the best protocols, frequently ensuring safety measures are being performed at the highest level, as well as influencing the site safety culture.Job Description:

The Field Safety Specialist is an integral member of the CF industries’ team and you will have a significant impact on the personal safety, emergency preparedness, and response performance of the facility. You will be responsible for implementing specific programs, leading, and training teams on the best protocols, frequently ensuring safety measures are being performed at the highest level, as well as influencing the site safety culture.

What you’ll do - Example Activities:

  • Complete review and oversight of all new regulatory initiatives ensuring compliance with existing regulations dealing with safety for the complex. Collect and assess data on Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program effectiveness.
  • Instruct and consult on high-risk field permitting activities and serve as subject matter expert for safety related field activities.
  • Conduct meetings, routine safety tours, and field safety audits.
  • Conduct safety training and education programs.
  • Assess (safety) risk exposure and lead development of appropriate controls.

Required Skills:

  • Health and safety standards: Demonstrated knowledge in health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace: Experience with safety audits and inspections on workplaces and workplace equipment. Ensure that they meet safety policies and identify hazards and risks.
  • Risk prevention and management: Knowledge of risk prevention strategies as well as risk assessment and mitigation applications to field activities
  • Conduct investigations: Familiar with conducting incident investigations using interviewing techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Coaching and training: Using effective verbal communication skills to coach others; developing and delivering training to diverse audiences.
  • Sound judgement and decision making: Considers the long- and short-term implications of potential actions and their impacts to choose the most appropriate course.

A minimum of 1-year experience in Occupational Safety & Health or relevant discipline or a safety specialist designation are desirable attributes for this role.
