Description

The Wind Field Quality Lead is responsible for overseeing and implementing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes during wind farm construction and commissioning activities. This role ensures all project work complies with contractual specifications, engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality expectations while promoting a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement.

The Quality Lead serves as the primary on-site quality representative, coordinating inspections, documentation, and corrective actions across multiple contractors and disciplines..

Quality Oversight

  • Lead site quality activities for wind turbine installation, civil works, electrical systems, and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, OEM requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Implement and maintain the project Quality Management Plan (QMP).
  • Monitor contractor quality performance and adherence to approved procedures.

Inspection & Verification

  • Coordinate and perform inspections including:
    • Foundations and anchor bolt installation
    • Tower erection and torque verification
    • Nacelle and blade installation
    • Electrical collection system installation
    • Substation and commissioning activities
  • Verify Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) are followed and documented.
  • Witness hold points and critical construction milestones.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, and turnover documentation.
  • Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective action tracking.
  • Review contractor quality documentation and redlines.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.

Issue Resolution

  • Identify quality risks and deficiencies proactively.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to resolve quality issues.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as liaison between project management, contractors, OEMs, and client representatives.
  • Support audits, client inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Provide quality guidance to field teams and supervisors.

Continuous Improvement

  • Promote best practices and lessons learned across the project.
  • Support training initiatives related to quality standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvements for future projects.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of quality or construction experience in renewable energy, heavy civil, or industrial projects.
  • Minimum 2+ years in wind energy construction or commissioning preferred.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and inspection methodologies.
  • Experience with technical drawings, specifications, and construction standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management familiarity
  • OSHA 30 (or equivalent safety certification)
  • OEM wind turbine training (GE, Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, etc.)


Salary Description
$110,000 - $130,000
