Field Service & Quality Engineer – Power Systems

Location(s)

  • Remote (United States); travel to project sites as needed, up to 30%.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $125,000–$150,000.
  • Performance bonus.

Position Summary

This position supports the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and quality improvement of medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with field service oversight, root cause analysis, and collaboration with engineering teams, manufacturing partners, and customers. The ideal candidate has at least five years of relevant experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment with up to 30% travel.

Job Function

  • Oversee third-party installation, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure compliance with procedures, customer requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and factory partners during equipment startup, commissioning, and operational testing.
  • Collect and analyze operational data, inspection findings, test results, and failure evidence.
  • Coordinate root cause investigations with engineering teams, manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, and customers.
  • Lead corrective and preventive actions to address product, installation, and operational deficiencies.
  • Review third-party reports and prepare technical documentation of field observations, investigations, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Maintain service-event records, equipment histories, and customer interaction documentation.
  • Support warranty claim evaluations and technical assessments.
  • Assist with quality metrics and equipment reliability reporting.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or equivalent experience in electrical power systems.
  • At least five years of experience with medium-voltage and/or high-voltage electrical equipment.
  • Experience with industrial power equipment or a related industry.
  • Experience collaborating with international teams.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of transformer and circuit breaker testing, including electrical and oil testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, root cause analysis methods, and corrective action processes.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, test reports, and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of IEEE, ANSI, NETA, NFPA 70E, and utility industry standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and travel to project sites up to 30%.
  • Must not require visa sponsorship.
