Job Description

The Field Operator IV – Wireline is an experienced field position responsible for the safe and efficient execution of wireline operations and well intervention services at customer wellsites.

The role requires strong practical knowledge of wireline equipment, pressure-control equipment, wireline tools, and wellsite operating procedures. The Field Operator IV will independently perform or support key operational activities including equipment preparation, rig-up and rig-down, tool-string assembly, running and retrieval of wireline tools, equipment operation, monitoring of job parameters, and basic troubleshooting.

The position works closely with the Wireline Supervisor, Field Engineer, client representatives, and field crew to ensure jobs are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Weatherford's HSE, quality, operational, and compliance standards.

The successful candidate should demonstrate strong technical competency, operational discipline, sound judgment, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous development while working in challenging onshore and offshore environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate wireline equipment and support wireline well intervention operations.
  • Perform rig-up and rig-down of wireline units, pressure-control equipment, and associated equipment.
  • Prepare, assemble, inspect, run, and retrieve wireline tool strings in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Operate and monitor wireline units, winches, control systems, and associated equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain awareness of line tension, depth, speed, pressure, and other operational parameters.
  • Conduct pre-job equipment inspections, function tests, and readiness checks.
  • Identify equipment or operational issues and perform basic troubleshooting within the scope of competency.
  • Escalate technical, equipment, or safety concerns to the Wireline Supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Follow approved operating procedures, well-control requirements, pressure-control practices, and client requirements.
  • Participate actively in toolbox talks, JSA/JHA, risk assessments, pre-job meetings, and safety briefings.
  • Maintain accurate job reports, equipment records, operational documentation, and service-related paperwork.
  • Communicate effectively with the Wireline Supervisor, Field Engineer, client, and crew throughout job execution.
  • Ensure proper handling, care, inspection, and storage of wireline tools and equipment.
  • Maintain high standards of HSE, housekeeping, equipment care, and operational discipline at the wellsite.
  • Stop work and report unsafe conditions in accordance with company HSE procedures.
  • Support equipment maintenance and preparation activities between jobs as required.
  • Assist with mentoring and development of less-experienced field personnel when required.
  • Complete all required technical, HSE, compliance, and competency training.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, safety, and service quality.
  • Perform other field-related duties as assigned by the Wireline Supervisor or management.

Skills:

  • Strong practical knowledge of wireline operations and well intervention services.
  • Hands-on experience with wireline units, winches, wireline tools, and pressure-control equipment.
  • Good understanding of wellsite safety, well-control, and pressure-control procedures.
  • Ability to monitor and interpret operational parameters during wireline operations.
  • Good mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong HSE awareness and commitment to safe working practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary field team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of operational discipline and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging field conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Wireline Services within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Demonstrated experience operating wireline equipment, winches, wireline tools, and pressure-control equipment.
  • Experience supporting or executing wireline well intervention operations.
  • Experience with rig-up/rig-down, tool-string preparation, deployment, and retrieval.
  • Relevant technical diploma, vocational qualification, or equivalent field experience is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of HSE, well-control, and pressure-control practices.
  • Relevant wireline industry certifications and technical training are preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work onshore and offshore, including rotational schedules.
  • Valid certifications and training required for the assigned operational scope and location.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Weatherford's HSE, compliance, quality, and operational standards.
