The Work You Will Do:
Field Operations Supervisor II
District One / District Maintenance / Heartland Operations Center
This position will supervise field crews in the maintenance and repair of highways, structures and facilities on the State Road right of way.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Supervises a number of field crews in the maintenance and repair of highways, structures and facilities. Communicates with, motivates, evaluates and disciplines subordinate employees.
Performs routine inspection of highways, structures and facilities, identifying areas requiring maintenance or repair and scheduling necessary work. Prioritizes and schedules work thru weekly planning meetings. Coordinates the availability of necessary resources to accomplish planned work activities.
Reviews daily crew reports, production and equipment reports and other necessary paperwork for completeness and accuracy. Reconciles production reports for out-of-range productivity.
Provides technical assistance to crew leaders and trains subordinates in proper methods and techniques of various maintenance activities, including traffic control. This position is required to supervise Department of Corrections Inmates.
Investigates complaints and recommends appropriate action to engineering personnel, if corrective action cannot be handled routinely. Conducts industrial safety inspections of assigned areas, equipment and crew operations. Completes necessary documentation.
Coordinates the availability of necessary resources to accomplish planned work activities.
Acquires goods/services with the State's purchasing credit card per Departmental policies and procedures.
Inspects above ground fuel storage tanks and fuel island dispensers ensuring their compliance with Department of Agriculture and Department of Environmental Protection regulations. Performs daily inspections and monitors fuel levels to ensure prompt delivery of fuel. Completes all required paperwork and documentation. Coordinates with District Drainage to ensure resolution of drainage issues, researches plans and documents and also consults with local agencies to resolve conflicts.

The incumbent of this position is required to work with or around Department of Corrections inmates. The incumbent must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check to work with or around Department of Corrections inmates. The incumbent must also be trained and must maintain training certification from the Department of Corrections to supervisor inmates. Employees may be required to work with or around hazardous materials. While on duty status, the position's incumbent must be readily available to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) consistent with the type of commercial driver's license (CDL) the incumbent is required to possess, or on a routine basis performs other CMV safety-sensitive functions. A valid Class B drivers license is required. Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short timeframe and serve in the Transportation Emergency Management Team (TEMT)”
