Important Information: Independent Contractors are responsible for their own tax obligations and statutory compliance in accordance with applicable Kenyan laws. Additional terms and conditions will be outlined in the Independent Contractor Agreement provided during the onboarding process. Location Sessions run from three Nairobi-area hubs, on work sites near each hub. Choose the hub closest to where you live: Racecourse Road (near Kariokor, Nairobi CBD) Athi River (also covers Mlolongo and Kitengela) Roysambu (off Thika Road) Engagement Overview We’re engaging independent contractors to provide participant recruitment and field support services for a paid, real-world data collection program in Nairobi. Participants wear a small recording device while they do their normal work, so we can record how the work is done. Contractors find and enrol participants in the job types we specify, set up devices, and return equipment at the end of each collection day. Contractors choose which days they’re available and are paid per completed output. Services Participant Recruitment: Identify and enrol participants in the job types listed in each assignment, at approved work sites. Explain the program clearly and accurately. Consent Standard: Every participant must give valid written or digital consent through our data collection app, using our approved consent scripts, before any recording begins. Participants must understand what they’re agreeing to and know they can decline or stop. Recordings without valid consent aren’t accepted or paid. Equipment Standard: Issue devices fully charged and set up so they clearly capture the participant’s hands-on work. Device setup must meet our published quality checklist. Equipment Return & Participant Payment: Return all devices to our Nairobi office at the end of each collection day. Pay participants the same day via M-Pesa, using funds and procedures we provide. Equipment Custody: Follow our custody and handover requirements for any equipment issued, and report loss, theft or damage immediately. Requirements Who We’re Looking For Experience in field recruitment, community mobilisation, microfinance, NGO fieldwork or similar independent field work. Fluent Swahili and working English. Sheng is a plus. Comfortable using smartphone apps and M-Pesa. Your own smartphone with data. Willing to undergo a background check. Engagement Terms Contract: Independent contractor agreement, Availability: You choose the days you’re available each week, and you may accept or decline individual assignments. Fees: KSh [amount] per [completed participant-day / approved recording unit], paid [weekly/biweekly] against invoice or statement. Expenses: Fees include your own travel and phone costs. Non-exclusive: You’re free to take on other work and clients. Tax: Contractors are responsible for their own tax obligations.
