About the role

As a Field Officer, you will undertake a range of duties to help implement field centre operational plans and maintain field centre infrastructure and facilities.

  • Maintain visitor facilities such as walking tracks, toilets, water supply systems, BBQs, and roads.
  • Support conservation works, including weed and pest management, vegetation protection, erosion control, and monitoring activities.
  • Assist with emergency response activities such as bushfire response, whale strandings, and avian influenza incidents.
  • Provide information, advice, and assistance to visitors.
  • Contribute to the delivery of exciting projects and track works, including along the Bird River and within the Tyndall Ranges.

Based at the West Coast Field Centre in Queenstown, you will work outdoors across a diverse range of environments, including alpine areas, beaches, and river systems. This is an exciting opportunity to get a foot in the door with Tasmania’s Parks and Wildlife Service and to use your practical skills to play a key role in the conservation and management of this spectacular region.

Hours per fortnight

76.0 hours per fortnight (minimum 60.8 hours, by negotiation).
