The Field Mechanical Commissioning Technician is responsible for supporting the commissioning and verification of mechanical systems within semiconductor or mission-critical facilities This role ensures that all mechanical equipment and systems are installed, tested, and operating in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements. The technician will work closely with construction, engineering, vendors, and operations teams throughout all phases of commissioning, from installation through project closeout.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical installation walkdowns to verify system completeness
  • Verify AHU, pump, and piping installation
  • Confirm valve tagging, labeling, alignment, and equipment anchoring
  • Review hydrostatic and leakage test reports
  • Confirm flushing and cleaning activities are complete
  • Identify, document, and log installation deficiencies in EXTO
  • Track equipment installation progress and readiness status
  • Review mechanical QA/QC documentation from trade contractors
  • Confirm access, clearance, and readiness for startup and OAT
  • Attend and support mechanical OAT activities
  • Witness pump startups, rotation checks, and VFD ramp-up
  • Verify operation of valves, dampers, and system components
  • Confirm bump tests and support system resets after simulated failures
  • Assist troubleshooting during testing
  • Log OAT deficiencies in EXTO (COR)
  • Coordinate vendor training sessions
  • Track corrective actions and retesting status
  • Confirm systems returned to normal operating conditions
  • Verify readiness for Green Tag and final sign-off
  • Attend Owner FAT sessions
  • Support pump and VFD resets
  • Adjust valves and dampers during testing
  • Monitor system stability during simulated failures
  • Assist troubleshooting efforts
  • Confirm systems returned to normal operation
  • Log FAT deficiencies in EXTO (DWN, NGI)
  • Track corrective actions and retest completion
  • Confirm system balancing is complete
  • Verify equipment is operating in normal configuration
  • Close mechanical deficiencies in EXTO (NGI)
  • Upload and finalize commissioning documentation
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Skills Required:

  • 2–5 years of experience in mechanical equipment installation verification and commissioning
  • Experience in semiconductor or mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, advanced manufacturing)
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, pumps, piping, and mechanical systems
  • Experience supporting startup, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes and commissioning tools (e.g., EXTO)

Education / Licenses / Certifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable
