Position(s): Field Mechanic
Shift Schedule: 21 days on, 7 days off
Start Time: 7:00AM
Location: Alberta & Saskatchewan

Forbes Bros Ltd. is currently looking for an experienced and skilled Field Mechanic (full-time, permanent) to join our team in Alberta and Saskatchewan. This is a rotational position which will require extensive travel (up to 75%) between Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The Field Mechanic maintains, repairs and overhauls heavy vehicles and industrial equipment at the project site. This role is accountable to ensure vehicle documentation is correct, regulatory requirements are met, and all documentation is in place before vehicles or equipment are issued. The successful candidate will demonstrate prior experience of having worked within a heavy equipment shop environment in addition to strong problem solving, time management and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emulates Forbes Bros core value of 'WE WORK SAFE' in all daily tasks
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems and components on a variety of equipment including but not limited to tractor-trailer units and large commercial vehicles
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
  • Assist with troubleshooting of electrical systems and components
  • Maintain service truck and keep stocked with tools and spare parts
  • Assist with the start-up and commissioning of new project sites
  • Responsible for maintaining the service truck log books/Tailboards/Safety paperwork
  • Responsible for creating and updating work orders within Viewpoint/Sent to Fleet Manager
  • Maintain shop tools and work area
  • May be required to perform duties outside of normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed
  • Assisting with other operational tasks, as required

What We Are Looking For:

  • Minimum three (3) + years related experience as at least one of the following is required: Heavy Equipment Technician or Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician- Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Off Road), Heavy Equipment Technician – Truck and Transport Mechanic
  • Class 5 Drivers License is required, Class 1 or 3 is an asset
  • Able and willing to travel to various project sites across Alberta and Saskatchewan
  • Familiarity with Federal and Provincial regulations
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment leveraging excellence in time management
  • Strong written, oral communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting
  • Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver's Abstract
