WHAT YOU’LL DO

As Field Marketing Ambassador will gain hands-on experience building brand presence and community engagement for one of North America's premier motorsports events. Beyond race weekend, you'll serve as the face of the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington at festivals, community events, partner activations, and grassroots marketing initiatives throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area, helping introduce new audiences to the excitement of INDYCAR long before the green flag drops.

Working alongside the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington Marketing & Communications team, you'll represent the event as an official brand ambassador while driving fan awareness, supporting ticket sales initiatives, engaging directly with fans, generating leads, and helping execute experiential marketing activations that bring the Grand Prix to life across North Texas.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced internship ideal for students and emerging professionals who are passionate about sports marketing, live events, and fan engagement, and who want the unique opportunity to help launch and grow a premier professional sporting event from the ground up.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Marketing & Community Activation

  • Represent JHGPA at local community events, festivals, and partner activations across the DFW area
  • Set up, manage, and break down branded displays, signage, and collateral at off-site events
  • Support execution of grassroots marketing initiatives, including sampling, giveaways, and street team activity
  • Assist with logistics for school and community partnership programs, including outreach tied to JHGPA Pathways
  • Help coordinate vendor and venue logistics for promotional placements and activation sites
  • Encourage fans to sign up for giveaways, email lists, and promotions to help grow the JHGPA database

Brand Ambassadorship

  • Serve as a kind, credible brand ambassador by developing in-depth knowledge of the event, INDYCAR, participating drivers, partners, and race weekend programming
  • Engage fans and community members, answering questions and building excitement ahead of race weekend
  • Capture photo and video content at community and promotional events to support recap and social content

Race Weekend

  • Support fan engagement and activation zones during race weekend
  • Assist with set-up and tear down of field marketing displays and activations
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all touchpoints

Other

  • Develop and maintain outstanding working relationships with coworkers, community partners, and supervisors
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the INDYCAR brand and various athletes
  • Track inventory of collateral, signage, and promotional giveaways
  • Assist in compiling event recaps and activation performance summaries
  • Expectation to be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Exposure to outdoor weather elements at community events and race weekend
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s)

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Interest in field marketing, experiential marketing, or sports/community marketing
  • Comfortable engaging with the public and speaking on behalf of a brand
  • Reliable transportation to travel to community and promotional events across the DFW area
  • Strong organizational skills; able to juggle multiple events and timelines
  • Flexible, adaptable, and punctual
  • Ability to work well with others on a team
  • High integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to quickly process and react to problems with minimal supervision

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a four-year college or university, pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field

Leadership:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities

FLEXIBILITY & TRAVEL

  • Must be located in Arlington, TX or the surrounding area. Housing and/or compensation for housing not provided
  • Frequent travel to and from local communities for field marketing, promotional, and engagement events, as well as to and from the office
  • Must be available for the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington (March 18–21) and regular promotional events September – March
  • Extended hours required during race weekends and key event periods; must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and event days as scheduled
  • Flexible schedule required; willingness to work non-traditional hours

Mandatory Events:

  • Thursday, March 18th – Track Set-Up
  • Friday, March 19th – Practice
  • Saturday, March 20th – Qualifying
  • Sunday, March 21st – Java House Grand Prix of Arlington
  • Other promotional and community events as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without correction, and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood
  • Must have the stamina to work long hours and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends or evenings
  • Work outdoors requires physical strength and stamina to endure extreme heat, cold, rain, and other conditions

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Fast-paced, collaborative office and event settings
  • This role splits time between community/field settings and race event settings, with regular travel between them
  • Expect exposure to the weather elements at outdoor community events and during race weekend
  • The noise level in the work environment can be loud, due to professional racing events
