Make your mark while you grow your career! We are looking for a highly motivated Field Facility Engineer to join our Jackfish SAGD Thermal Operations team. Working closely with a dynamic group of professionals in Operations, Maintenance, and multi-disciplined Engineering teams, you will play a key role in identifying, recommending, and executing facility optimization opportunities.

Your contributions will directly affect the areas’ ability to achieve long-term production, environmental, and profitability goals. The skills you develop while working within the teams will unlock many career opportunities within the company.

Job Location: Lac La Biche – Jackfish Site (camp-based position)

Shift Schedule: 4x3, 10-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build strong relationships with operations, maintenance, and cross-functional teams to drive execution excellence
  • Provide onsite mechanical and process engineering support to Operations and Maintenance, including troubleshooting and resolving facility challenges to improve performance
  • Manage engineering changes through Canadian Natural’s Management of Change (MOC) process from conception to completion
  • Assist with the scope and design of larger capital projects coordinated with the Calgary Facilities Engineering Group
  • Share technical knowledge and mentor less experienced engineers and staff
  • Follow applicable codes, guidelines, directives, and regulations, working with regulatory agencies (AER, ABSA, etc.) to ensure facilities remain compliant

What You Bring to the Role:

  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial setting with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
  • Professional Engineer or eligibility for registration as a P. Eng with APEGA (consideration will be given to Engineers-in-Training approaching P. Eng eligibility).
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to build consensus across teams
  • Experience in facilities process safety through Process Hazard Analysis methodology (i.e. HAZOP, “What If” and Management of Change (MOC) processes)
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to be able to manage several projects concurrently
  • Proof and maintenance of a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License, or equivalent, is required
