The Senior Field Engineer (Simulator Technician) will support the Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) Training Systems program at Patrick Space Force Base, providing advanced-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of Operational Flight Trainer (OFTT) and Avionics Desktop Trainers (AVDTTs), along with associated subsystems.
Standard Duties:
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on CRH training devices, specifically WSTs and AVDTTs, including hardware, software, and networked systems.
- Lead fault isolation and root cause analysis across simulator subsystems (visuals, avionics, IOS, computing environments, and network infrastructure).
- Support installation, integration, and verification of software updates (e.g., OFP load upgrades) and hardware modifications.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance actions in accordance with AFTO Form 781 series and program requirements.
- Analyze system performance data (MTBF, failure trends) and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and availability.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior field engineers and technicians.
- Coordinate with engineering, logistics, cybersecurity, and program management teams to resolve complex system issues.
- Support Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events, system certifications, and customer demonstrations.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable technical orders, cybersecurity requirements, and safety standards.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in simulator maintenance, avionics, IT systems, or related technical field.
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification is required and must be held at time of hire.
- Strong troubleshooting experience across electrical, electronic, and computer-based systems.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with IT/computer systems, including Windows and/or Linux environments, system administration fundamentals, and basic networking.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and technical orders.
- Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers.
- Familiarity with maintenance documentation systems and data tracking (e.g., AFTO forms, maintenance logs).
Desired Skills
- Experience supporting military flight simulators or training systems (WST, AVDTT, or similar platforms preferred).
- Knowledge of Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) environments.
- Experience with software installation, configuration management, and system baselining.
- Understanding of cybersecurity practices within DoD environments (STIGs, RMF, etc.).
- Experience analyzing system logs, databases, and network performance.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $72500.00 - $134600.00
