The Moltz Construction Summer Internship Program offers college students an immersive opportunity to gain firsthand experience in heavy civil and water/wastewater construction. Designed for those pursuing careers in construction management, engineering, or related fields, the program emphasizes growth through on-the-job training, mentorship, and exposure to the technical and operational aspects of complex public infrastructure projects across Colorado.

About the Role

Our interns support project teams in both field and office environments while developing a practical understanding of heavy civil construction operations. This internship is dedicated to a $13 million mine reclamation project, focused on the rehabilitation of a 110,000-square-foot mining retention pond. The project includes the placement of approximately 4,500 cubic yards of cast-in-place structural concrete and provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience on a complex water containment and infrastructure project.

As an Intern at Moltz, you will:

• Work alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Engineers on active construction projects.
• Gain exposure to concrete placement, underground piping, mechanical installations, and heavy civil earthwork.
• Learn construction means and methods utilized in self-perform and design-build project delivery.
• Participate in daily planning activities, field coordination, and construction progress tracking.
• Track and manage Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Review submittals and shop drawings.
• Assist with procurement tracking and material delivery coordination.
• Support project documentation, reporting, and schedule updates.
• Collaborate with field personnel, designers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Work with survey and field engineering teams to support construction layout activities.
• Gain experience using Robotic Total Stations, lasers, and optical levels.
• Assist with digital layout and construction documentation using AutoCAD and related technologies.
• Learn how field data supports quality control and as-built documentation.
• Participate in Moltz's industry-leading safety culture.
• Complete MSHA 24-Hour New Miner Safety Training.
• Attend safety meetings, inspections, and field safety initiatives.
• Learn safe work practices in active construction environments.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in heavy civil, water, wastewater, or infrastructure construction.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work in field environments and travel to project locations as needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly rate: $25-$28/ hour
