Field Engineer

Location: Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria
Industry: Telecommunications / Internet Service Provider (ISP)
Employment Type: Full-Time (Onsite)
Experience Level: Minimum of 2 – 5 Years
Salary: ₦250,000 – ₦300,000 Monthly (Net)

The Field Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of internet and network services at customer locations. This role ensures reliable service delivery, optimal network performance, and a high level of customer satisfaction within a dynamic ISP environment.

The ideal candidate is technically proficient, customer-focused, and capable of resolving field-based technical issues efficiently while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Installation & Configuration


  • Visit customer premises to install and configure ISP services, including internet connectivity, routers, modems, and related networking equipment.

  • Follow company installation standards, technical specifications, and operational procedures.

  • Test and validate installed services to ensure optimal speed, reliability, and performance.

  • Provide customers with guidance on usage, troubleshooting basics, and maintenance of installed equipment.

2. Troubleshooting & Technical Support


  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, equipment failures, and service disruptions.

  • Respond promptly to customer complaints and service requests, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Escalate complex technical issues to Network Operations or Technical Support teams when required.

  • Maintain accurate records of issues, resolutions, and service activities.

3. Customer Service & Communication


  • Deliver professional and courteous service during all customer interactions.

  • Clearly communicate technical information in a user-friendly manner.

  • Address customer concerns and ensure a positive service experience.

  • Identify opportunities for service upgrades or additional offerings and relay insights to the sales team.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance


  • Ensure all installations meet company standards, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct routine checks and quality audits on installed services.

  • Identify service gaps and implement corrective actions where necessary.

5. Collaboration & Reporting


  • Work closely with internal teams including Sales, Customer Support, and Network Operations.

  • Provide feedback from field activities to improve service delivery and customer experience.

  • Submit daily and weekly reports on installations, issues resolved, and pending tasks.

6. Continuous Learning & Improvement


  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, ISP solutions, and industry best practices.

  • Participate in technical training and certification programs to enhance performance.

Required Qualifications & Experience


  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; HND/B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field is an added advantage.

  • 2 – 5 years of relevant experience in ISP, telecommunications, or network installations.

  • Proven experience with routers, switches, modems, and structured cabling systems.

Core Skills & Competencies


  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, fiber, wireless systems)

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues

  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage field assignments efficiently

  • High attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Technical Requirements


  • Experience with network diagnostic and testing tools

  • Basic understanding of fiber optic installations and maintenance

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for reporting and documentation

Additional Requirements


  • Valid driver's license is required

  • Willingness to travel frequently within Lagos and surrounding areas

  • Physical ability to handle and install networking equipment

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet service timelines
