Job Description

Primary Objective of Job:

Field Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Digicel’scellular sites to ensure 100% availability and quality service.


Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform hardware and software installation / upgrades on Telco and relatedpower systems
  • Respond to emergencies and potential failures on the network
  • Create and maintain network documentation
  • Perform reactive and proactive maintenance on All Telco Equipment
  • Prepare report on outages and maintenance for cellular sites and related nodes
  • Any other related duties assigned

Academic qualifications and experience required:

  • Diploma/Degree in Electrical/ Electronic/ Telecommunications Engineering (GTI or University)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in one or more of the fields listed below:-
    (1) Operation and Maintenance of A.C and D.C power Systems
    (2) Operations and maintenance of cellular transmission systems
    (3) Operation and Maintenance of BTS/Node B equipment.

Functional Skills:

  • Applicants are required to be computer literate – proficient in Microsoft officeand internet savvy
  • Applicants must be familiar with networking concepts – including IPaddressing, VLANs, Ethernet and Routing
  • Must be familiar with Radio Frequency Spectrum, radio transceivers, antennaand feeder systems
  • Applicants must have knowledge of electrical power systems – including A.Cand D.C generation/distribution.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge at a fast pace and troubleshoot problems on thespot using technical manuals and documentation
  • Must be a licensed driver with ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends
