As a Field Enforcement Agent 1 with the Bureau of Enforcement and Taxpayer Assistance, you will start an exciting path in tax enforcement and public service. Examples of duties

This position supports field investigations involving tax compliance, contraband enforcement, inspections, and taxpayer outreach activities. As a Field Enforcement Agent 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Field Investigation: Participate in inspections, road details, and testing procedures to support tax enforcement efforts
  • Compliance Review: Assist with investigating businesses and individuals for tax violations and help gather needed documentation
  • Evidence Handling: Prepare, submit, and review physical evidence and reports that support legal action and prosecution
  • Taxpayer Interaction: Explain tax rules, collect delinquent taxes, and support education efforts for new registrants
  • Record Research: Search public records and databases to locate taxpayers and verify compliance information
  • Operational Support: Maintain equipment, complete activity logs, and follow required procedures for inspections and enforcement

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in tax investigation work; or
  • Four years of experience in collections operations in a business, commercial, industrial, government, or finance office; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must reside in Philadelphia County. Relocation is not an option.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
  • You must meet eligibility requirements for the Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN).
