Your Role:

This is a field-based technical sales specialist position within the Life Science Division of MilliporeSigma. You will engage in scientific discussions with customers, focusing on driving the adoption of innovative Early Discovery Workflow products across all pertinent customer segments. Your role will involve achieving a sales target by interacting with customers to discuss how our products can be utilized in their experiments while collecting objective feedback. You will be a subject matter expert in organic chemical synthesis and will support new product introductions across adjacent workflows such as, Metabolomics, Lead Discovery, and Chemical Biology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Focus: Organic Synthesis Reagents and Platforms, Digital Chemistry, Multiomics, Medicinal Chemistry and adjacent portfolios.
  • In coordination with the account manager, assist in developing support, sales plans, and strategies for active and potential business related to innovative early stage discovery workflows.
  • Develop technical solutions for customer applications and challenges.
  • Intimate knowledge of applications to position our product offering.
  • Assist Account Managers with account mapping by having a comprehensive understanding of the customer's research, business initiatives, R&D organizational structure, and new technology evaluation/implementation processes.
  • Tailoring of technical content to the customer. 
  • Deepen and broaden MilliporeSigma customer relationships with key scientific leaders. 
  • Technical training for account managers.
  • Provide knowledge of competition and the current marketplace.
  • Ability to build scientific credibility with customers, the commercial organization, and marketing.
  • Partner with Commercial Marketing and Product Management to ensure the successful launch of innovative products; generation and implementation of materials supporting strategic and tactical sales initiatives.  
  • Expertise and Insights into:
    • Synthetic methodologies and advanced digital chemistry solutions.
    • Signaling pathways and associated products.
    • Integrated synthetic pathway solutions and reagents for laboratory workflows.
    • Organic compounds and their applications in research.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in organic chemistry or related field related field with 5+ years combined laboratory or commercial experience, or advanced degree in related field.
  • Ability to travel regularly (20-50%), overnight travel is dependent on home location
  • Must live within the VA, MD, PA, NJ, Southern NY territory. No relocation packages are available
  • Computer literacy is mandatory (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, SalesForce, etc.)
  • Excellent presentation and selling skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and influence others in a matrix environment.
  • Rapidly acquire technical knowledge of MilliporeSigma innovations and integrate them into workflows and technical selling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. with 5+ years of experience in a sales or customer facing role.
  • Prior field sales, marketing, or customer facing experience
  • Degree in organic chemistry or related field with a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience or equivalent.

Pay Range for this position: $103,500 - $178,700

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
