CORE PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Design product layouts for retail leaflets, digital/social media, and POS materials. Ensure that artwork is accurate, visually appealing, and compliant with client corporate identity specifications and print-ready requirements.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Receive briefs from clients.
• Set up artwork according to briefing, print or digital requirements, and corporate identity specifications.
• Ensure all images, spreads, and bleeds meet machine requirements.
• Discuss and determine detailed DTP job requirements with the repro or technical team.
• Verify all content and information are accurate before beginning a job.
• Produce and check proofs against required specifications before delivering to clients.
• Make corrections as needed until client satisfaction is achieved.
• Check color separations and overprint electronically.
• Analyze, identify, and advise the technical team or repro supervisor of potential print issues.
• Provide excellent customer service.

• Turnaround time for proofs and delivery to clients.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB

Must be able to:

• Understand and set up artwork according to technical specifications and client requirements.
• Output files according to technical specifications using prescribed DTP software packages.
• Understand company processes and systems to assess workflow requirements.
• Multi-task and work under pressure.
• Use a variety of fonts, images, and colors (300dpi, CMYK).
• Utilize Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and digital applications effectively.
• Output files according to technical specifications using various software packages.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Experience

• A tertiary qualification in DTP and 10 years of relevant experience in DTP design/layout with a solid knowledge of the printing and digital industries.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

• Experience in creating leaflet layouts for retail groups.
• Understanding of desktop publishing skills and techniques on an Apple Mac platform.
• Proficiency in DTP software packages.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Open plan casual office space.
• 40 hours a week (overtime as required).
• 08:00 - 17:00
