PS Job Title: Field Coordinator, Sr-CP

Work Place Flexibility: Onsite

**Entergy is seeking qualified candidates to fill multiple positions in this role. Preferred locations include The Woodlands, Beaumont, or Conroe, Texas.**

Purpose

  • This position supports the safety, quality, and compliance standards for the execution of capital projects within the Power Delivery and Capital Projects BUs.
  • Directly supports construction activities, inventory and material management, equipment logistics, and outage management for the execution of capital projects within the Power Delivery and Capital Projects BUs.
  • Directly oversees contract resources performing line, substation, and civil construction activities in Distribution, Transmission, or Substation operating groups.
  • Provides direct support to Project Team members throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Works closely with business unit contractor representatives to achieve project objectives.
  • An advocate for safety who promotes an incident free workplace and cultivates a safe work culture.
  • Actively participates in and promotes safety initiatives to demonstrate commitment.
  • Provides field leadership and direction to company and/or contract crews ensuring they are aware of and always utilize approved processes, safe work practices, and company procedures.
  • Accountable for monitoring and coordinating site-based construction activities including those performed by contractors, vendors and employees.
  • Ensure work is performed in a safe manner while meeting construction specifications. Ensures that the projects are staffed with qualified construction management professionals and field personnel for the effective oversight of construction contractors and their subcontractors.
  • Assists in the safe planning and execution of construction activities for Capital Projects managed by the Project Delivery organization.
  • Oversees Field Level Switching and energized operations.
  • Responsible for scheduling, assigning, managing and monitoring work of construction and service work.
  • Ensure all work meets company standards and in service dates while ensuring that all workmanship complies with Entergy's safety guidelines and practices. Have extensive knowledge of a working distribution system.
  • Work with Engineering, Vegetation, TCC/DOC and other departments in seeing that all facilities are constructed and maintained according to company specifications, standards and policies.
  • Support emergency and storm operations during critical restoration periods.
  • Work emergency or storm restoration in other areas as needed.
  • Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan and execute the project in adherence with this plan.
  • Monitors contractor performance in project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements.
    Coordinates and oversees the execution of energized line work. Directly responsible for the confirmation of Energized Work Plans (EWPs).
  • Identifies, manages, and mitigates project risks.
  • Ensure Entergy and contractor safety and quality standards are being upheld for all aspects of the project(s).
  • Provides improvements to policies & procedures to complete work to improve efficiencies, capture lesson learning and industry best practices.
  • Ensures compliance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Review the contractor’s outage plan and verify the outage is meeting Entergy system requirement and does not compromise the system reliability. Communicate or address any constructability or coordination issue that might impact the project or system.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the identification of safety hazards, the elimination/mitigation of hazards on projects, assist with development of project scopes, supports development of project estimates, development of construction sequence plans, development of project schedules, performing constructability review, tracking/receiving materials and equipment, coordination of schedules, outage identification/coordination, deficiency resolution, quality assurance, issue resolution, and closure of projects.
2. Be able to plan or lay out working details with little to no supervision, with responsibility for results, must be willing and able to lead internal and contract crews to perform difficult and responsible electrical and mechanical tasks involved in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of transmission and distribution lines substations, transformer racks, transformer vaults, underground systems and other equipment, and be qualified to do the following and related work
as assigned
3. Ensure the completion of required project tasks, performing field observations, confirming progress in alignment with project schedule, performing QA/QC, and completing as-builts. Leads the resolution of field construction problems in coordination with Construction Engineer and project team.
4. Coordinate material orders and deliveries, equipment staging and set-up, jobsite readiness, and switching. Assist with preparing site-specific hazard identification plans. Complete post job audit and ensure jobsite cleanup is complete to include appropriate accounting of excess materials to be either returned to stores or properly moved to another project using appropriate processes and approved procedures. Support local and out of state storm restoration activities.
5. Oversee & monitor the safety and performance of contractors and company personnel ensuring crews work safely, efficiently and effectively. Ensure all facilities and assets are installed and commissioned per the established design and in accordance with company standards and confirm with diagnostic testing or inspection.
6. Provides input for formal construction plans and proactive mitigation plans. Reports variances from process, project scope and/or design that affect safety, quality, cost, schedule, or customer satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or related work experience
  • Associate’s degree of higher preferred

Minimum experience required of the position

Field Coordinator II:

  • 5+ years of field transmission/distribution line, substation, construction experience.
  • Some experience leading a team or contract workforce

Field Coordinator, Sr:

  • 7+ years of field transmission/distribution line, substation, construction experience.
  • 3+ years supervisory experience or leading a team/workforce

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Knowledge of Construction and Maintenance practices.
  • Experience in managing/executing capital projects.
  • Working knowledge of transmission and substation construction and standards, safety procedures & policies.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with little direction with a high level of organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of basic computer programs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, strong leadership, decision making and follow through skills.
  • Ability to both lead and work in a team environment across multiple disciplines and work groups.
  • History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.
  • Conduct voltage load, substation, electrolysis, ground, and other special tasks.
  • Plan and lay out all work in a safe and efficient manner.
    Check, handle, and be responsible for all material removed from and returned to stock, prepare reports and records.
  • Direct work of assistants and instruct and train other employees.
    Work near energized conductors maintaining minimum approach distance up to and including 500 KV.
  • Lead or assist storm restoration in substations and other groups.
  • Understand and interpret computer applications for testing substation equipment. Including but not limited to: Doble Power Factor, speed shot equipment and battery test equipment, pole inspection and testing methods.
  • Efficiently analyze test results and identify risks as it relates to T&D Line and substation construction and maintenance.
  • Demonstrate ability to be responsible and accountable for effective contract workforce oversight and project execution.
  • Demonstrate ability to be responsible and accountable for effective project outage planning and safe execution of work.
  • Actively promotes an inclusive and innovative work environment.
  • Knowledge of safe work rules, fatal rules.
  • Facilitate defining solutions with the project teams.
  • Complies with all commissioning and regulatory requirements regarding relays.
  • Abides by and follows Code of Conduct.
  • Some experience leading a team or contract workforce
    Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel skills.
  • Some knowledge of applications, processes, software and equipment e.g.: Primavera P6, Oracle, Maximo.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position

Field Coordinator, Sr: Construction Management Certification preferred.
