Job Description

Saluda Medical is a commercial‑stage medical device company focused on developing treatments for chronic neurological conditions using its novel closed‑loop neuromodulation platform. The company’s proprietary technology senses and measures neural responses to stimulation and automatically adjusts therapy based on real‑time neurophysiological feedback.

Saluda Medical’s first product, the Evoke® System, is designed to deliver known, consistent, and personalized spinal cord stimulation therapy by objectively measuring neural responses and maintaining therapy within a prescribed therapeutic window. Saluda Medical is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

At Saluda, we challenge boundaries. We innovate and think beyond the conventional. Our focus is to revolutionize the standard of care in neuromodulation to positively impact patient’s lives.

Day in the Life… As Saluda scales from a high-touch launch model to a mature commercial organization, the Field Clinical Engineer (FCE) role is evolving from 1:1 case coverage to 1: many leverage. The mission of this role is no longer to be present at every procedure; it is to build the clinical competency of Territory Managers, center staff, and physician partners so that exceptional, ECAP-guided therapy outcomes scale reliably without requiring the FCE at the bedside.

Reporting into Sales Training & Enablement, this regional role is the engine for scalable clinical education, proactive feature adoption, and durable therapy outcomes across Saluda’s SmartLoop™ closed-loop technology. The FCE’s success is measured less by the number of cases covered and more by the competency, certification, and program health it creates in the field.

What You’ll Do

Field Enablement & Training Leader (Reporting to Sales Training & Enablement)

  • Design and deliver structured, repeatable training programs that enable Territory Managers and center staff to independently cover cases and program patients — shifting the organization from bedside dependency to scalable, certified competency
  • Own regional training content, proctoring, and certification pathways in partnership with the national Sales Training & Enablement function
  • Treat the Territory Manager as a primary internal customer, building rep confidence and clinical fluency on Evoke™ and ECAP-guided, closed-loop programming
  • Partner with Marketing, Professional Education, and Clinical to translate frontline field perspective into scalable enablement assets and best-practice playbooks
  • Provide in-field development and onboarding for new hires during their initial training program, with a clear path to independent competency

Proactive Adoption & Market Development Partner (Aligned with 1–2 Regional Sales Directors)

  • Drive proactive adoption of advanced features, including ECAP-guided, closed-loop programming rather than reactive, case-by-case troubleshooting
  • Support key accounts in building patient funnels and pulling through clinical evidence to accelerate de novo adoption
  • Help centers achieve implant center designations, volume thresholds, and pathway certifications (program building)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with physicians and their staff in a manner that distinguishes Saluda as a disruptor to the traditional neuromodulation model; deliver education through grand rounds, academic hospitals, and fellowship programs
  • Transition routine case coverage to trained reps and center staff, reserving FCE presence for complex cases, new feature launches, and new-account onboarding

Therapy Optimization & Program Health

  • Use data, dashboards, and reports to monitor and improve program health, feature adoption, and field compliance across:
  • Clinical workflows
  • Programming algorithms
  • Dashboards and reporting
  • Identify opportunities for improved therapy and workflow and codify them into repeatable, teachable best practices
  • Provide escalation-level troubleshooting (remote and, when required, in-person) while coaching the field to resolve routine issues independently
  • Work closely with Clinical Engineering, Therapy & Development, Data Analytics, and Quality to channel field feedback into continuous improvement
  • Support Saluda-sponsored trials in local regions (programming, data collection, and analysis)

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (highly preferred), or relevant technical or health-related field
  • MS, PhD, or applicable advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in medical device, health care, or a clinical setting
  • 2–3 years clinical medical device experience or equivalent, ideally with closed-loop implantable electronic medical devices (Neuromodulation, CRM)
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training or education programs, and scaling knowledge across a field team (strongly preferred)
  • A comprehensive ability to analyze and evaluate technologically complex devices
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively across commercial, clinical, and corporate functions
  • High level of comfort navigating the medical environment, including labs and hospital settings
  • Patient-centric orientation with the ability to pair subjective and objective data
  • Proven success in displaying confidence in leading and influencing customers; ability to confidently provide guidance and course-correct as needed
  • Expert verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to teach to varied audiences
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time – including overnights
  • Located within 1 hour of a major airport is highly preferred

Our Core Values:

  • People – Our first responsibility is to the patients we serve.
  • Integrity – Do the right thing
  • Pioneering – Lead Boldly, Change Lives, Disrupt the Status-Quo
  • Performance – Win together – Deliver with Excellence.

Saluda Medical embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building a team representative of a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills. We believe people are the source of our inspiration and innovation.
