As a Field Care Supervisor with Sage Care, you’ll help make that happen.

From reassuring a new colleague on their first community visits to reviewing a client’s changing needs, your work will make a practical difference every day. You’ll support people to receive safe, respectful care in their own homes while helping our care team develop their skills and confidence.

Based out of our Bishop’s Stortford branch, you’ll spend most of your working time in the community, alongside some essential office-based administration. You’ll build relationships with clients, families and colleagues, identify where support is needed and follow through to help put things right.

Domiciliary care means supporting people in their own homes, helping them maintain their independence, routines and dignity.

That support can include personal care, practical help and companionship. As a Field Care Supervisor, you’ll help ensure each person’s care reflects their individual needs, preferences and choices.

📍 Where you’ll work

You’ll connect our Bishop’s Stortford office with care teams and clients across:

• Stevenage and surrounding North Hertfordshire communities: SG1 and SG2.
• Central Bedfordshire: Biggleswade, Sandy and surrounding villages and parishes, including SG18 and SG19.

This is a community-based supervisory role, so you must enjoy being out and about, managing your time and working independently.

💷 Pay and working patterns

• Monday to Friday: £14.44 per hour.
• Saturday and Sunday: £15.44 per hour.
• Mileage allowance: 25p per mile.

This vacancy is full-time and permanent, with shifts across weekdays and weekends. Typical patterns include:

• Day shifts: Starting at 7am or 8am and finishing at 3pm or 4pm.
• Evening shifts: Starting at 3pm or 4pm and finishing at 10pm.

We’ll discuss your availability and the branch’s rota requirements during recruitment. Participation in the on-call rota is also required as needed.

Your focus will be on supporting high-quality, person-centred care and helping colleagues deliver it consistently.

Get to know clients and keep their care under review

• Complete initial risk and needs assessments in clients’ homes or hospital and residential settings.
• Review care with clients and their families, helping ensure care plans remain accurate and reflect changing needs.
• Gather feedback, carry out quality audits, report findings and follow up agreed actions.

Be a visible, approachable source of support

• Provide practical guidance, supervision and support to Care Assistants.
• Carry out spot checks, formal supervisions and competency assessments in clients’ homes.
• Act as a key contact for care staff, helping them raise concerns, find answers and feel supported in their work.

Help new colleagues settle in and develop

• Support onboarding, induction and ongoing staff development.
• Shadow new Care Assistants in the community and help them build confidence.
• Identify training needs and support colleagues with performance improvement.

Support safe care and quality standards

• Help maintain compliance with CQC requirements and organisational procedures.
• Support the Registered Manager with inspection preparation and internal audits.
• Respond to concerns, incidents and safeguarding matters through the appropriate reporting and escalation processes.

Keep care delivery running smoothly

• Work with Care Coordinators to support realistic, effective rotas.
• Contribute to the on-call rota as required.
• Communicate changes and concerns promptly so colleagues can respond effectively.

Work closely with others

• Build positive relationships with clients, families, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
• Take part in multidisciplinary reviews and contribute relevant observations.
• Help ensure everyone involved has the information they need to support each client.

Keep clear, timely records

• Use care management systems to record activity accurately.
• Maintain supervision notes, spot-check reports, assessments and compliance documentation.
• Ensure actions are recorded and followed through.

Qualifications

✅ What you’ll bring

You’ll bring care-sector knowledge, sound judgement and an encouraging approach to supporting others. You should be comfortable giving constructive feedback, managing competing priorities and asking for support when needed.

Essential requirements:

• At least one year’s experience as a Field Supervisor in the UK care sector, with experience supervising, supporting, coaching or managing people. Domiciliary care experience is highly desirable.
• A strong understanding of CQC standards, regulatory requirements, safeguarding procedures and good care practice.
• Practical experience completing risk and needs assessments, spot checks, supervisions, audits and competency assessments.
• Familiarity with care management systems, alongside working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with willingness to travel extensively across England as required.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach to resolving problems and the ability to work independently in the community.
• Availability to start as soon as possible.
• The existing right to work in the UK.

People management, coaching and operational skills gained in other sectors are also valuable alongside the essential care experience above.
